DC Health Link Kick Starts Enrollment Drive to Enroll ALL DC Residents in Quality Affordable Health Insurance for 2019

Mayor Bowser Presents Community Day and Health Fair East of the River on this Sat., Nov. 10

WHAT:                        Having survived Congressional attacks on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and attempts by the Trump administration to sabotage the ACA, DC Health Link is on a mission to ensure that more District residents can get quality, affordable health coverage. To locate more of the District's uninsured population, DC Health Link is mounting a laser-focused outreach strategy to target areas of the city with higher uninsured rates and focus outreach toward Millennials, Latinos, and African-Americans.

To show their commitment to the ACA and working together to break down the barriers to health coverage in order to reach the ultimate goal of having 100% of its residents insured, District leaders will help launch DC Health Link's Open Enrollment period at the 2019 Open Enrollment Community Day and Health Fair.

DC Health Link, which has cut the District's uninsured rate in half since opening for business in 2013, will host this citywide information and enrollment opportunity with Mayor Muriel Bowser to help District residents learn about and conveniently shop, compare and enroll in quality health insurance plans that best meet their needs and budgets. The event will feature a variety of activities including onsite enrollment, information tables, exhibits, FREE health screenings, local entertainment, cooking demonstrations, food and refreshment from DC's legendary Ben's Chili Bowl, Zumba, activities for children and families, and much more.

WHO:                          Invited public officials include Councilmembers Vincent C. Gray, Trayon White and Anita Bonds

Mila Kofman, DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority Executive Director
