Dear Theodora,

Following our very successful night at the D.C. Council, we need to send a strong message to the slumlords Sanford Capital, Geoff Griffis and their friends in the Mayor's office. They are intent on trying to wait us out. They think if they just stall long enough we will all go away and their corrupt deal can continue. The District government admitted at the hearing it has the power to help, but under questioning refused to say why they won't. It's obvious: they want to protect the corrupt deal for the Mayor and her cronies. Sanford Capital is abusing the legal process to avoid real responsibility for the slum conditions they perpetuate.

The question for us is very simple: Are we going to let them get away with this? At Justice First, we say no!

Justice First, along with the tenants at the Congress Heights buildings, are calling for a mass rally at the properties on Wednesday, March 9th. We need a big turnout so the District, slumlords and developers know we mean business! We need everyone who believes the District shouldn't help slumlords or displace low-income Black residents to come out March 9th. Together we can show that justice is a priority and that District residents aren't afraid to do what it takes to get it. RSVP here so we know you are coming!
