Tonight is the 34th National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.
DC's Metropolitan Police Department is hosting events in each of the seven police districts. The official National Night Out event in the 5th District is at the Starburst Plaza at 15th Street and Benning Road NE from 6-8pm. Members of MPD's Fifth District will be joined by the MPD Deaf and Hard of Hearing Unit at this location.
For those Ward 5 residents who live in the 4th District, the 4D event is at Hamilton Recreation Center at 1340 Hamilton Street NW from 5-9pm. More information on MPD hosted National Night Out events can be found here: https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/national-night-out-calendar-activities)
There will be an additional National Night Out event in Ward 5 at the Villages at Dakota Crossing from 7-9pm on the green space at Baldwin Crescent and Hansberry Court NE.
Team McDuffie staff will be attending the two events in Ward 5 and you are welcome to engage them with any questions or concerns. Councilmember McDuffie is at the annual convention of the National Bar Association where he is participating on a panel discussion on the District's innovative Comprehensive Juvenile Justice Reform bill that he shepherded through the Council last year.
