Re : cheat_training_group Go TEAM!

Looks like I'm busted. Hopefully I only get kicked out of the country AFTER the Cheat race...

I nominate Katie as leader. From what I saw this weekend, she has just been scamming us --- Katie knows the whole river. I'm guessing she's an undercover cop, trying to bust Sandrine for transporting minors across state lines.

If you plan on paddling in the pools, surviving the rapids, and you want a few folks to look out for you, this is your group. Creek boats are welcome.

Teams for the Cheat Race?

Yes! Not only is there a team competition, but it is a great way to
buddy up, sharing your knowledge of the lines and feeling a little
safer out there.

Normal teams consist of 3 or 4 paddlers...but more is fine. Over the
past couple of years, the teams have fallen into 2 general categories:
"enthusiastically competitive" or "finishing is winning!"

Those determined to beat Tom downriver become the "Mac's LAKS" team.
Other competitive teams become "LAKS ATTACKS 1, 2, 3"  or other
streamlined nom de plume.

Then there are the "ReLAKSers", "LAKSadaisicals" and  "LAKS Back-O-the-
Pack" who are measuring the experience by the fun-o-meter versus the
chronometer. In fact, I'm already hearing rumors of a new LAKS Speed
team. :-)

Our goals?

- First --- and most important --- is for all to be safe and
successful in completing the race.
- Second is to make Liquid Adventures Kayak School (LAKS) the largest
group on the river.
- Third is to push the "Mac's LAKS" team higher in the team rankings
--- they were third last year. Calling all speed demons! :-)

The team thing is not real formal. Just ask them to add your team name
on race day when you check in. (You DID send in your
registration...right?) Looking forward to having some fun --- and
showing all those other racers the power of LAKS!

OK, I just can't quit without a few more possible team names (Tom
HATES this part ;-):

"ExLAKS" - they've got smooth moves

"LAKS Fear" - fear is no factor for these racers...and "LAKS
Confidence" just didn't convey the right message ;-)

And in tribute to last weekend's take-out rave....LAKS Ecstasy (this
trip ain't over yet!)

Enjoy!
JOHN

P.S. And how about a Grrl Power LAKS team again this year?
