[WardFive] Re: [ward5] Re: New Automated Speed Enforcement Locations Deployed Citywide

Tom,

I would really appreciate some clarification on the questions below in your reference to me!!

1.  "The question is whether or not his behavior meets community standards".   Whose standards???    What Behavior???  I am willing to come to a tribunal to hear the "standards" that this community have that I am not meeting.

Let's see other than doing the basic expected in life of a human being, - I plant flowers (lots), I plant veges (lots), I work hard (lots), I work with kids (lots), I work with returning citizens (some), I help everyone who asks and I can assist (lots), I work a lot with my fraternity (lots), I give $$$ that I don't have to the community organizations and schools (often), I attend community meetings (lots), I am active in the community (lots), I am a good father and at 39 months, my daughter is well ahead academically and socially adjusted, I fight for our community at risk of being penalized financially (almost daily), I expend time and energy to educate my community with my writing (LOTS!), I spend lots of time thinking creatively how to solve the issues we face in the City - probably more than any team Kenyan will put together - and this is not my ego talking -  just a reality of the inner conflict of capitalism and socialism that I have struggled with for about 22 years.

You just tell me where I can squeeze more into 24hrs and still have a few minutes to focus on my businesses and work!!  And like many others in the community, (other than the writing), I have been doing my part for a much longer time than you have gotten to know of - pray tell me how I can further "meet the community standards"

2.  "his behavior here and on other lists is certainly problematic".   What behavior???  Problematic to Who???

3.  "Rob has a right to his opinion, but he doesn't have a clear right to this or any other voluntary-participation forum that is privately owned and held".  If I have a right to my opinion, then why doesn't it extend to this or any other voluntary-participation forum that is "privately owned and held" if I live in the community it represents and quite clearly am discussing issues related to our community?  THAT is the basic Math Problem in this "diverse" community that we are faced with ----  1 + 1 doesn't = 2     So y=mx+b is not even part of our language!

I have all the copies of the rules posted from Brookland List Serv and according to them, I have a right to participate - but, obviously there is some Race related prejudice, fear and avoidance of truth that is part of this decision.  Like I said, as long as no profanity or violence is being utilized, then everyone in this community has a DELETE button and can CHOOSE to utilize it whenever my NAME pops up.

Please let me know the answers. Anyways, below is some good reading that will help with further understanding and clarification!

"Rob's voice is strong - there is no question there".  I am going to assume that this was meant in a positive light as the conversation seems to be dwindling down from serious resistance to a soft push-back. To further expand on its positiveness - the reason my voice is strong  is that (without question) I am just vocalizing what others just don't feel like talking about 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years later - I guess it is kind of me carrying piece of the Baton of freedom, opportunity and equality that many of us carry on a daily basis. I say this because, while I may be doing it here on this listserv, many are doing the same all over the Ward, as well throughout the city and the Country as this is not just a Ward 5 Yahoo Listserv discussion. Trust and believe, almost all Blacks feel the same way when it reflects the racial issues (hidden or open) but most feel it is a waste of time to "identify" what grown compassionate folks should already know and many are simply tired of "wasting" their time/life being repetitive!!  Many are just tired of fighting for some basic things called respect, equality, opportunity, fairness in education, etc. that seems to be so elusive based on race and/or income.

The great thing is that many Whites understand and are empathetic towards our feelings - at least the ones I talk to - so my voice is reflective of their understanding as well and I know that the minds of others are opening - including yours and your wife.  Trust and believe, your part with your resistance was truly important to the process of enlightenment. So while you may not have known it, your responses to me have been much appreciated and has allowed me to convey thoughts that may often go unheard.  As a matter of fact - allow me to share a refreshing conversation I had for about 30 minutes on the day of the Yard Sale - I have a neighbor (a White family) who just move to Brookland and the husband was from the South.  Both his wife and I were surprised when his conversation went into depth about the racism and positions on the "food chain" that we are all placed. Both his wife and I were in shock when he said - "most White Men are the problem" especially because their position is being threatened" - their stronghold of power at the top - even over White women.  He said he saw it all the time and his father was keen on identifying it in the community when he was growing up even though he grew in the South!!  So you know, our kids are playing together.

And to correct your statement - "Rob's foothold on the neighborhood is substantial" - I am not sure what you mean about "foothold" but if it is my Real Estate investment in Brookland, that is not my real foothold in this Brookland neighborhood/Ward 5. That is just something physical and money related.  My Real FOOTHOLD is my placement here and all that has occurred as being part of the Divine Order. It was my God Given Talent that the Padous, Feeley, Sunday Abraham plucked at that I have been holding back since I was 26.  It is my inspiration from my forefathers and God Above to be inspired to write and do the things that I do.  Each day as I sit, my mind is actually "blank" but the words just flow into my mind like I am in a trance.  While the words may come forth in an "invective" manner, the thoughts (clear and beautiful) are as true and pure as the un-driven snow after a snow storm (the "invective"). So, not that I don't have other important things to do but inspiration sometimes trumps everything!

Trust and believe, I often ask Why ME!!

Jerome,

Rob's voice is strong - there is no question there. The question is whether or not his behavior meets community standards. While Rob's foothold on the neighborhood is substantial, his behavior here and on other lists is certainly problematic.

Rob has a right to his opinion, but he doesn't have a clear right to this or any other voluntary-participation forum that is privately owned and held.

You can sue - sure - but you look like a bully when you do. Just ask Rob about the suit facing the B Cafe. I'm sure he feels that Mr. Padou is a bully.
