> We advance this statement in support of Silas Grant for the position of Chair of the Ward 5 Democrats.  Over the years both of us have worked for the Democratic National Committee on presidential elections, for Democratic elected officials and for Democratic candidates seeking statewide, Congressional and local seats.  As lifelong Democrats and longtime political professionals, we know firsthand the important role that strong grassroots organizing plays in advancing the interests of our party.  We believe, as Chair of the Ward 5 Democrats, Silas will bring to bear a unique mix of: a strong understanding of Democratic principles, integrity, leadership, energy, knowledge and love of the Ward 5, professionalism and the ability to build coalitions.  Silas has worked diligently for many years on behalf of the residents of Ward 5 as an ANC commissioner, community leader, youth advocate and volunteer on countless initiatives, all of the this without chasing the spotlight and with successfully balancing obligations to his family, faith and career.
