Please ask for the Federal Legislation that governs whether or not it is legal for our City Council to pass a bill that states that Charters must hold a lottery for kids living in the neighborhood first and then hold a lottery for kids throughout the city.  I believe that if a Charter in NW can have the "Option" to allow kids from the neighborhood entry into their school first, then we should be able to make that a mandatory part of the lottery system.

Hello!

We invite you to join us, the Ward Five Council on Education, for our November meeting this evening, Tuesday, November 19th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Lamond-Riggs Library (5401 South Dakota Ave NE).

This month's meeting will have a focus on the new common school lottery - My School DC.  The My School DC representatives will talk in depth about the new lottery process and be able to answer any questions you might have.  Check out their website, myschooldc.org, prior to the meeting and come with your questions.

Also, we will have representatives from the Office of the State Superintendent of Education present to discuss the new parent resource LearnDC.

So many interesting topics - we hope to see you there!

Got questions? Feel free to contact us prior to the meeting, or any time, via email, ward5coe@gmail.com.  We look forward to interacting with you!
