[WardFive] DC summer camps, events, DC Free Summer Meals, and more

Summer is here and that means camps, events, and family-friendly activities
galore for DC residents. Let One City Youth (OCY) be your resource for all
of the fun for children and youth this summer. OCY is the District of
Columbia's year-round planning and programming effort for youth ages 5-24.
Many government agencies and organizations work together in this
youth-focused effort so that events, camps, clubs, scholarships, etc. for
youth are organized and publicized.

**Learn** about what's happening in DC through OCY and **share** this
information with OCY so that we can tell others!

There are three main ways to get and stay connected with OCY this summer:
1. Go to the website (onecityyouth@dc.gov): You'll find camp, DC Free Summer
Meals Program and events info

2. Follow OCY on Twitter (@OneCityYouth) (https://twitter.com/OneCityYouth):
OCY shares info on the calendar, pass along other interesting news and
happenings and share what we are writing about on the blog

3. Read and SUBSCRIBE to the blog (http://onecityyouth.blogspot.com/): Every
day OCY shares information that can help children and their parents and
highlight a particularly interesting Tweet. The community is encouraged to
submit content to the blog - events, Tweets, general information, and more.
Email onecityyouth@dc.gov.

Also, the DC FREE SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM starts **June 23**! There is no
application necessary to receive a meal. Children ages 18 and younger can
just show up at a DC Free Summer Meals site during meal time. **Free meals
start June 23 at all recreation centers and some schools. DC Public Library
branches will begin serving free meals July 1.** The list of open sites is
on the OCY website: http://onecityyouth.dc.gov/page/featured-programs. As
sites and meal/snack times are added, the list will be updated, so check
regularly. There's also a map of sites: http://onecityyouth.dc.gov/.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email Carissa Gilbert, One City
Youth Intern, carissa.gilbert@dc.gov. Or, call her: (202) 727-7973, Monday -
Friday.
