[WardFive] Events coming up, DC joins UNPO, Olvidados premiere

The District is now a member of the Underrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO).  This membership will assist in spreading the importance of DC Statehood throughout the world.  Special thanks to Senator Paul Strauss for traveling to Brussels, Belgium to speak on DC's behalf. You can read about what UNPO is, and how this can help us establish full democracy for DC at:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/franklin-garcia/dc-is-latest-unrepresente_b_8519888.html

Last night at the Angelika Film Center in Fairfax, VA, I had the distinction of honoring Actress/Producer Carla Ortiz.  Ms. Ortiz's accomplishments are many.  She produced an official entry for this year's 87th Academy Awards, the film Olvidados (The Forgotten).  Honoring Ms. Ortiz was particularly meaningful because by honoring Ms. Ortiz, it felt like we honored the entire Bolivian community in the region.  Indeed, it appeared as if the entire community showed up last night to support our best.  The film's public premiere will be tomorrow (Friday) in DC, where Producer Ortiz is scheduled to appear (see below for more information).

Please remember to watch the DC Statehood Today Show running on DCTV this month (check your cable listings in DC for air time).  You can also watch it on-line at:  http://www.dc51.us/tvshow/

Lastly, check out events below.  I hope to see you there.
