AU NAACP  College Chapter Members Protest in Response to Banana Assault and Racial Acts Against Black Students at American University

On Monday, American University students voiced their outrage about the racial incidents occuring on campus. Racial acts against black students at American University have been increasing.  Students have reported several incidents of hate messages aimed at black students and there have been multiple acts where bananas were used to insult black female students.  Earlier this month, it was reported that a banana was thrown at a black female student by a white male student.  In addition, a rotten banana was placed at the dorm room entrance of another black female student.  According to several students, racial incidents have been increasing on American University's campus and university administrators have failed to suspend the students responsible for these racial acts.

The American University NAACP College Chapter was recently re-activated at American University and AU NAACP student members joined hundreds of American University students to demand accountability from university administrators and the suspension of two white students who were allegedly involved in throwing a banana at a black woman in a dorm earlier this month.

The Black Men's Health Survey is the largest, most comprehensive survey of African-American male's health in U.S. history.  Black males are among the least healthy groups in the U.S. Helmed by African-American doctors and researchers from top institutions including George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University, this historic effort will produce data that leads to a better understanding of the health challenges facing Black men in America and potentially result in improved health outcomes and life expectancies for generations to come. A team of Black male researchers from some of the top universities in America have set out to better understand health challenges facing Black men. With higher mortality rates and health risk, Black males are among the least healthy groups in the United States. The unique health needs and hurdles that Black male's have to face have promoted little to no research in the past. This changes now.

With the rise of the Black Men's Health Survey we will be able to potentially improve health outcomes and life expectancy for generations. Check out the website www.werisetoday.com to learn more and be on the lookout for more information on how to take the survey.
