2.5' should be a great day. See you tomorrow. I plan to bring a cooler full of home brew.

For those who haven't done this before: plan to eat lunch while vehicles are being shuttled.

Cheers,

Paddlers,

I want to say that It was such a great practice on Wednesday night. I am sure a lot of you were worn out, I know I missed a roll towards the end of class. Rolling with the ability to recover is a great skill and one that you should practice.

There is a pretty good article here. I encourage you all to read it,. Its about pushing your limits and styling lines instead of surviving lines. I think that the workout we did on Wednesday speaks very well to this article. We simulated a chaotic river run so that if things don't go according to plan you will have the experience to deal with them.

As for preparing for a river trip! I know that a lot of people seemed to hit a wall last week in the Kitzmiller. It is a long river and a lot of paddling. The Cheat River is very similar to the Kitzmiller. The best thing you can do for a long river trip is to prepare properly. Bring snacks/ lunch for the rive, plenty of water, and dress properly (I like to be warm as opposed to cold). I also will bring a dry bag with an extra layer if It is going to be cold. This weekend it is going to be a little rainy and high 70s. There is a chance of thunderstorms throughout the day, I feel more comfortable paddling in the bottom of the canyon then on land under a tree,  so we will continue paddling if it does storm. I love paddling in the rain water above you and water under you, what more could you ask for!

Also be honest with yourself and the instructors if you need a break then say something. We cannot read your minds. You may also bring whatever boat you are most comfortable in except a playboat. We will have 3 more trips up there for you to bring the long boat down, but I would encourage you to try your long boat at some point.

The plan: Tomorrow we are going to meet at the Park and ride in Gaithersburg at 7. If you live closer to 70 you can also meet at the Myersville park and Ride at 7:30. If you want to drive up then please meet at the Gas station near the river in Albright, Wv at 10:30. Get dressed, drop boats, and set shuttle and the bus will pick everyone up at the take out around 11:30.

The level is going to be around 2.5 ft tomorrow which is going to be a good level for the first time down.

We have a creeking clinic easter egg hunt Sunday if anyone is planning on staying up there!

See you all in the wild and wonderful tomorrow

PADDLE EVERYWHERE!
