[WardFive] Re: Digest for friends-of-mcmillan-park@googlegroups.com - 2 updates in 1 topic

Also ... here is a link showing some of the development which is coming our way and maybe coming our way .... and this is just in our small part of our city. Please remember that this is just the tip of what is coming in our immediate neighborhood...don't let them fool you..  and that's why I believe that McMillan should be utilized as a place for our City to provide a healthy overall environmentally friendly space!!

Everywhere else is privately owned ... and they will do what they want. We control our land and what should be done with it .. (well.. really our City Officials control what little is left of our City Owned property .... they have almost gotten rid of all of it)!

Good Morning Everyone,

I have been thinking about this ... What if our city officials had put forth a plan to build a facility at McMillan which has a huge modern vertical agriculture facility.. with some light retail space to facilitate the needs of our nearby communities and to wrap it into a Huge Park Space Area? Don't we deserve this type of GREEN planning and "development"?

ABSOLUTELY NO ONE other than a developer or someone who has a financial benefit for the existing project would protest!!! And we definitely NEED this vs. what is being proposed.

That's the barometer of how you measure what communities really need and want and would prefer to have in their community! I am warning, there is going to be a day when we wish we had banded together to get access to LOCAL, HEALTHY CHOICES ... for sure this climate change is serious! We might not have been seemingly "affected" these last 2 weeks but it is only a matter of time before we actually do get hit much earlier and before crops can get to us... when highways are shut down and even before that .. crops destroyed by weather and prices hike.

I pay attention to the produce provided in grocery stores ... yesterday, the lettuce was picked Nov 22 prior .. just imagine the taste if we were getting it same day or 1 day picked!

I think that McMillan is probably the only space like this in our Nation ... it is truly a ARCHITECTURAL  WONDER  if you haven't seen it! Imagine that entire space was brought to life and provided "life" ... isn't that what it was originally built to do ... provide life (water) for our area!!

Just know, I risk a lot by taking this stance .... just like I did with me opposing the 901 Monroe development... and so the City decided to amend the entire Comprehensive Plan so that they could change the rules ... and that's why I say that most of Our City Officials are absolutely no different than the Trump Regime! When you have $$$ like the big developers and land owners, you can get the City to write the laws which they need in place to do what they want to do ... and that's to feed their never ending need for Money over Life! They should never complain about the TRUMP REGIME --- they're absolutely no different!!

It is so embarrassing!! This is the not much talked about "Black on Black" Crime ...we have so many Black City Officials doing this to us. But it has nothing to do with just being Black but evolved to the "Green on Black" Crimes being committed ... the Have and Have Not as much! I always say ... look at Officials, family and friends finances before they enter the positions and then look again when they are no longer in office ... see who got employed and contracts and whose net worth changes throughout and afterwards... so we should never talk about President Trump's NEPOTISM or what he does!

I am proud of those who are doing their best to keep the air clean, fresh food on our tables and healthy spaces for our families to benefit from.

Have a great day!

PS. Daniel .. please circulate... glad you have calmed down with the name calling and focused into just the fight!

Good Afternoon,

I am always so amazed that the people in Brookland, Bloomingdale and the
entire city who are interested in having a "GREEN CITY" won't protest the
entire development and process here. Again, this is obviously an illegal
approval of a development ..

Once again ... I don't have a financial gain in this ... How do we plan a
city of the future without planning a mordern agricultural space to provide
healthy local daily nourishment ... vegetables and a Park that will
accommodate the current and growing influx of residents! Can't we get
together to help our City Leadership understand that healthy fresh local
FOOD choices is an IMPORTANT aspect of CITY PLANNING!

WE NEED A PARK AT THE CENTER OF OUR CITY FOR OUR RESIDENTS TO ENJOY!
BECAUSE OF THE HISTORICAL ASPECT AND DESIGN OF A WATER FILTRATION SPACE,
WHY NOT FOCUS ON PRESERVATION AND HEALTHY HEALING USE THAN ANOTHER CONCRETE
STRUCTURE. MAYBE EVEN ANOTHER WATER SOURCE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY ... AT
LEAST A VERTICAL GROWING FACILITY!

Again, everything which is currently being proposed / designed there can be
facilitated on the opposite side of Washington Hospital Center at the
Soldier's Home 77 acres of Development, the Horning Brother's site (Parking
Lot on south side of Irving and Michigan (opposite the Shrine's Parking
lot), including the small shopping center) and possibly even the Large
already asphalt parking lot of Veteran's hospital.. for sure that could be
developed to better serve them and the community.

And down the line, let's not forget the possible development of all that
land belonging to Catholic University which currently has trees (sandwiched
between Harewood, Irving and North Capitol).

So, it is ABSOLUTELY NOT NECESSARY to build on McMillan Park ... I just
don't understand how our City Leadership loves to talk about a GREEN CITY
when it comes to bike lanes, solar, recycle, PLASTIC BAG TAX (almost solely
on residents who don't put plastic in the sewer), etc. and refuse to see
the most appropriate GREEN space for Localized Vertical Farming, local
shops and a place where residents can enjoy the Green Environment of a city
.. which will add to a healthier lifestyle for us all!!

I am definitely not anti-development but can the residents have something
other than concrete!! But like I always say,

WHY DOES ANY OF OUR LEADERS PROTEST PRESIDENT TRUMP AND OUT OF THE SAME
MOUTH DO THE SAME TO US ...

WHY DOES IT TAKE NUMEROUS JUDGES AND COURT CASES FOR RESIDENTS TO GET WHAT
SHOULD BE PUBLIC INFORMATION?

THIS SAME TRICKERY TACTIC IS EXACTLY THE SAME TACTICS WHICH OUR PRESIDENT
IS UTILIZING TO AVOID BEING EXPOSED!! AT SOME POINT THE DOUBLE-STANDARD HAS
TO STOP!! MAYBE WE ARE WAITING UNTIL THE FOOD TRUCKS CAN'T MAKE IT HERE
BECAUSE OF WEATHER!

AS LONG AS WE ALLOW OUR CITY OFFICIALS TO CONTINUE IGNORING "CLIMATE
CHANGE" LOCALLY AND CONTINUES TO ABUSE OUR RESIDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN
LONG TERM PRESERVATION OF OUR GREEN SPACE, AIR QUALITY, DIET (OVERALL
HEALTH), NONE OF US SHOULD EVEN OPEN OUR MOUTH TO PROTEST PRESIDENT TRUMP...

ATTENTION TO CLIMATE CHANGE, GREEN SPACE AND HEALTH STARTS WITH OUR LOCAL
LEADERSHIP! I WANT TO BUY LETTUCE, TOMATOES AND OTHER VEGETABLES DIRECTLY
OFF THE VERTICAL FARM ... THAT'S TRULY "FARM TO TABLE"!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS ... MY WISH IS FOR A HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT FOR EVERYONE!
