[WardFive] Fw: [MPD-4D] Robberies with ARRESTS!

Shortly before midnight 12/24/12 to shortly after midnight, Christmas morning, some dark spirits attempted to destroy the sanctity of Christmas by conducting a crime spree that started in my SMD in Ward 5 into Ward 7, but due to the diligent efforts of our wonderful MPD, outstanding coordination and communications, some of the suspects were apprehended in Ward 7, along with a handgun.

Truly grateful for the efforts of these officers on behalf of the citizens, which never ceases to amaze with our MPD officers unwavering dedication and committment to protect us all!

Subject: [MPD-4D] Robberies with ARRESTS!

Good Morning,

Shortly before midnight on December 24, 2012, a complainant parked his vehicle in the unit block of Webster Street, NE.  The complainant observed three males approach his vehicle and tap on his window with a handgun.  The complainant opened his door and one of the suspects demanded the complainant's property.  The second suspect also produced a handgun and demanded the complainant's property.  The complainant complied and handed over more of his property.  The suspects then fled the scene in a silver or gold colored vehicle.

A few minutes later, a complainant was exiting his vehicle in the 600 block of Jefferson Street, NE, when a four-door, silver or gold colored sedan pulled alongside the complainant's vehicle.  One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the complainant's property.  The second suspect also produced a handgun and demanded the complainant's property.  A third suspect exited the suspect vehicle, entered the complainant's vehicle, and the suspects took the complainant's property and fled the scene in the silver or gold colored sedan.

Shortly after midnight on December 25, 2012, a complainant was walking in the 1700 block of Varnum Street, NW, when he was approached by a gold colored, four-door vehicle occupied by four black males.  One of the suspects exited the vehicle, displayed a handgun, and demanded the complainant's property.  The second suspect exited the vehicle, also displayed a handgun, and took the complainant's property.  The suspects then fled in the vehicle.

A lookout was broadcast over all seven police districts for the suspects and their vehicle involved in these similar robberies.  A short time later, officers in the Sixth Police District observed the vehicle travelling on East Capitol Street, SE.  A brief pursuit ensued, and the suspects bailed out in the 100 block of 56th Place, SE.  Two of the suspects apprehended and placed under arrest for the robberies.  A gun was also recovered on the scene.

Congratulations go out to the hardworking officers, officials, and detectives of the Fourth and Sixth districts, for their excellent police work led to the swift closure of these robberies committed on Christmas morning.
