Re: cheat_training_group It's Team Time again!

In Kenny's defense, I watched him very successfully boof the wavehopper in upper coliseum. So yes you can boof a wavehopper. It was when he flipped on the eddyline below and fell out of his boat that he swam.

Well, it wouldn't be Race Week without my usual incredibly entertaining message about forming teams. (Not a word from you, Katie!) And with this year's shuttle challenges, a bit of team work will be needed on and off the river. So...

Normal teams consist of 3 or 4 paddlers...but more is fine. (Top three count for team ranking) Over the past couple of years, the teams have fallen into 2 general categories:"enthusiastically competitive" or "finishing is winning!"

Those determined to beat Tom...ahem, sorry...help Tom downriver to victory become the "Mac's LAKS" team. Other competitive teams become "LAKS ATTACKS 1, 2, 3"  or other streamlined nom de plume.

How about a Grrl Power LAKS team again this year?

Then there are the "ReLAKSers", "LAKSadaisicals" and  "LAKS Back-O-the-Pack" who are measuring the experience by the fun-o-meter versus the chronometer. But remember --- the mission is to get to the finish before the beer and the timers run out. It is a race, after all!

Our goals?

  •    First --- and most important --- is for all to be safe and successful in completing the race.
  •    Second is to make Liquid Adventures Kayak School (LAKS) the largest group on the river.
  •    Third is to push all our LAKS team higher in the team rankings (We had great team and individual performances last year.)
  •    Lastly, bonus points for pictures of Kenny swimming out of his Wavehopper. (No, Kenny...you can't really boof a Wavehopper!)

The team thing is not real formal. Just ask them to add your team name on race day when you check in. (You DID send in your registration...right?)
In fact, I've already sent mine in and will happily welcome new members to my team "LAKS Ambition". Seemed better than "LAKS Any Chance of Winning", no? ;-

OK, I just can't quit without a few more possible team names (Tom HATES this part ;-):

  • "ExLAKS" - they've got smooth moves
  • "LAKS Fear" - fear is no factor for these racers...and "LAKS Confidence" just didn't convey the right message ;-)
  • And in tribute to last year's take-out rave....LAKS Ecstasy (this trip ain't over yet!)

Looking forward to having some fun --- and showing all those other racers the power of LAKS!
JOHN
