Committee Members -

As you know, our city lost a great champion this week with the passing of Mayor Marion Barry. While the details have not been finalized, there will be a number of events to celebrate his life and work in the coming days. Current arrangements to honor Mayor Barry's legacy will require rescheduling a number of our Public Engagement Forums. We regret the inconvenience this will cause. That said, we do not want to force residents, including yourselves, to choose between the important Transition events you are leading and the memorial services for Mayor Barry.

With that in mind, we've rescheduled your Forum for Wednesday, December 10 at 8 AM.  The full list of times and locations for all Public Engagement Forums is attached. We ask that you please send an email to any individuals interested in speaking at the Forums to let them know the new time and location and the process to sign-up to speak. We encourage Committee members themselves to testify, as well as any individuals who have reached out to you about having special meetings to discuss the Transition and their particular areas of interest. This will ensure a robust discussion on innovative solutions to meeting the District's greatest challenges. With that in mind, those wishing to sign-up to speak can do so via a form available here: http://goo.gl/VUsdAz

We encourage all members of the Transition Committee to share this information with your networks, including your social media networks, using the hashtag #Freshideas. Suggested tweets include:

   - Come share your #Freshideas with the Bowser Transition Committee - sign up here: http://goo.gl/VUsdAz

   - The Bowser Transition Committee wants to hear your #Freshideas - sign up for a public engagement forum:   http://goo.gl/VUsdAz

Thanks again for your assistance and understanding in light of Mayor Barry's passing. We hope all our efforts will result in progress for Washingtonians to which he also dedicated his life. We will make special efforts as part of the Transition Committee's activities to honor Mayor Barry's contribution to the District.

Please have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you, Stephanie
