Re: [WardFive] Help Select the Brookland Middle Principal

All Ward 5 parents and interested parties should watch this process closely. DCPS is known for its high school administrator turnover. Many administrators (quality administrators) do not come to DC because their tenure is dependent upon the whim of the Chancellor. There is a "evaluation process" for school principals but you never hear how the Chancellor  is evaluated or if she is evaluated. Chancellor evaluations often suffer when left to the Mayor;  the downside of Mayoral control of the public school system.

Fall 2015 is fast approaching and that is when Brookland Middle School will open. DCPS is in the final stages of selecting a school leader for Brookland and wants YOUR help in this process.

Please join us, the Ward Five Council on Education, in partnership with the Brookland Civic Association and DCPS on Tuesday, January 13th at the Lamond-Riggs Library from 6:30 - 8:30pm to HELP CHOOSE THE BROOKLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL. (Attached please find the flyer for this event.)

In addition to the conversation surrounding the school leader for Brookland Middle, this meeting will also be a great time for you to get a overall Brookland update.

If you have any specific questions regarding the Principal Selection Process prior to this meeting please feel free to contact Andrew Katz-Moses with DCPS at andrew.katz-moses@dc.gov. You can also feel free to reach out to us as well.

We hope to see you on Tuesday!
