DC DMV Offers Customers Two More Online Services

Apply for Disability Placard Online and Track Mailing Status of REAL ID Credential

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) has added two more online services to its website – the ability to apply for a disability placard online and track the mailing status of a driver license or identification card.

District of Columbia residents and visitors who need to apply for a disability placard can apply online at their convenience through DC DMV's website.

To be eligible for the disability placard online, one is required to be a:

·        Disabled visitor;

·        Resident with a short-term disability that is certified by a physician;

·        Resident with a disability tag, or

·        Resident with one or more disabilities listed on the back of the disability placard

application.

Applicants are also required to submit the completed application. Once the disability placard application is processed and approved, the placard and wallet certificate will arrive in the mail in approximately 7 to 10 business days. Owners are required to carry the wallet certificate at all times, while using the disability placard.

For those who want to apply for a disability tag, they are required to visit a DC DMV Service Center

Additionally, District residents can track the mailing status of their driver license or identification online, which will provide them with the printing and mailing status, as credentials are mailed to customers and no longer issued over-the-counter.

DC DMV has more than 40 online services, enabling customers to "skip the in-person trip" and complete their DC DMV transaction on their schedule.
