PRTC will implement a few minor changes (detailed below) to help PRTC and Metro passengers.

Also to assist during SafeTrack, Potomac Mills Mall will temporarily increase the number of spaces set aside for commuter parking starting on June 29.

As of July 5, PRTC will implement these minor changes to assist passengers:

Several evening trips on the Prince William Metro Direct route will leave later than scheduled, enabling more passengers to make connections. The final trip on weekdays will leave the Metro station at 10:55 p.m.

·        The 7:45 p.m. weekday trip will depart the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station at 7:55 p.m.

·        The 10:40 p.m. weekday trip – the last trip of the night – will depart the Metro station at 10:55 p.m.

·        The 10:35 p.m. Saturday trip – the last trip of the night – will depart the Metro station at 10:50 p.m.

Eastern Prince William County residents may want to ride one of the many PRTC OmniRide buses to the Pentagon, Crystal City or Rosslyn-Ballston and transfer to Metrobus, Arlington Transit bus or Alexandria DASH bus.
Those who travel mid-day should consider PRTC's Dale City – Washington OmniRide MX-1 trip, which leaves PRTC at 11:05 a.m. and picks up passengers at the Route 123/ I-95 Commuter Lot before traveling straight to multiple destinations in downtown D.C.

Passengers who use Metro to travel to Alexandria or South Arlington may want to consider these options:
Catch a Virginia Railway Express train at Franconia-Springfield and ride to King Street or Crystal City;
Ride a Lake Ridge – Mark Center OmniRide bus or a Dale City – Mark Center OmniRide bus and transfer at the Mark Center to a Metrobus or the Alexandria DASH bus.

RAIL

Virginia Railway Express (VRE)

·        For riders from southern Fairfax County and Alexandria, consider riding VRE from Franconia-Springfield or King Street Alexandria to access Crystal City, L'Enfant Plaza, and Union Station

PARKING

·        If you park and ride at Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn St, or Huntington, consider other county Park & Ride facilities or parking on the Green Line.

BIKING

Capital Bikeshare - A bike transit service of the departments of transportation in the District of ColumbiaArlington County, the City of Alexandria and Montgomery County

·        Stations are located at Crystal City, Pentagon City, Braddock Road, and King Street stations, as well as many other locations in South Arlington and Alexandria.  As an alternative to regular membership options (starting at $8/day), CaBi is offering a flat $2 fare for single trips under 30 minutes.

Fairfax County Bike Connections - Bike connections from Fairfax County around the SafeTrack Surge zones.

Bike Arlington - Information to make it easy for cyclists in Arlington to get where they need to go, including more than one hundred miles of multi-use trails, on-street bike lanes, and designated bike routes.

The City of Alexandria will lead morning "bike trains" between the Braddock Road and Pentagon City Metro Stations via Crystal City. Northbound bike trains will depart from Braddock Road to Pentagon City at 6:30 a.m., 7 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8 a.m., and 8:30 a.m.; and southbound bike trains will depart from Pentagon City to Braddock Road at 7 a.m., 7:30 a.m., and 8 a.m.  The total trip time is less than 30 minutes for most cyclists.

The Mount Vernon Trail connects directly with the 14th Street and Memorial Bridges, providing a convenient cycling route between South Arlington and the District of Columbia. Due to the high level of crowding and delay on the Blue/Yellow line in Virginia, many customers will find biking to be a faster and more comfortable option. For Yellow Line customers located north and west of I-395, consider using the Orange/Silver Lines instead.

The W&OD and Four Mile Run Trail offer comfortable off-street routes to East Falls Church and Ballston stations.
