Re: cheat_training_group Gauley Trip #2

I admit it, the GPS coordinate would have gotten me there safe and sound the first night. You will have about 3ish miles down a sketchy dirt road. Put all thoughts of Deliverance out of your head and push on. Do not turn around, as your poor little Civic might get stuck in the drainage ditch on the side of the road ... yup that happened.

The campground is great nice and quite and close the put-in

hope you all have fun it's an awesome river.

Hey Everyone!  For the Gauley trip this weekend, we will be camping again at Tawney Farms. Check the website for directions and GPS coordinates: http://tawneyfarm.com/contact-usdirections.html The campground is close to Woods Ferry and Mason's Branch so keep going toward the river, don't turn around!

We will eat breakfast in camp and want to leave the campsite at 9 am on Saturday morning. Please bring supplies for lunches on Saturday and Sunday. We will be eating on the river.

You can also chose to drive up Saturday morning. You will need to be at the put-in to the Woods Ferry, at 9:30 am. Here is the AW map: https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/2379/#tab-directions Woods Ferry is indicated by the "B" pin. For those of you who are feeling really confident, you might want to bring your playboat for Saturday and your creeker for Sunday.

We will eat dinner out on Saturday night. Please note logistically, that the car left at the put in will not be retreived til after dinner. So, if that ends up being your car, please put dry clothes and wallet in a vehicle that is going to the take out. Sunday the group will split. Plan to eat breakfast at 7 am at Mabel's Restaurant in Mt Nebo.

The group going so far is Carlos, Eric, Maegon, Bobby, Jim and Eva on Sunday. Tom and Eric Hanson (Farve) are leading. For carpool purposes, Tom is heading up Friday morning to hit the Yough on the way. I will start a separate email chain for carpooling.

I will need to know your plan- when you will arrive, how many nights you will camp at Tawney Farm so I can let the campground know how many to expect.

For the rest of the Fall Trainers, this Saturday is our last meeting. I will email location by Friday.

Thanks & have a great weekend!
