Attached is the DC Black History Month Calendar for 2017 ( see attached).

 

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the DC Black History Celebration Committee are proud to present this guide to events in Washington, DC for the month of February 2017. This guide is available online at dcarts.dc.gov.

Featuring performances by local artists, panel discussions by leading scholars and a presentation from the Poet Laureate of the District of Columbia

6:30pm: Panel Discussion – The Districts African Diaspora: Communities presents in Conversation speakers from the District's African, African American and Afro-Latino communities will discuss life and experience in the city. Presented by the Mayor's Office of African Affairs, the Mayor's Office on American Affairs and the Mayor's Office on Latino Affairs. 

8:00pm: Performance - The Women of Plums is the theatrical adaptation of "The Women of Plums," the award-winning book by DC Poet Laureate Dolores Kendrick, featuring poems written in the voices of slave women who relate lives of appalling deprivation in lyrical monologues. Presented by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the Poet Laureate of the District of Columbia

DC Black History Calendar for Free Programs in the DMV

[DC, MD, & VA metropolitan area]

 

The Black History calendar is the brainchild of Mr. Black History, Charles "Chuck" Hicks and the DC Black History Celebration Committee which features "Celebrations, Found Truths, Sheroes, Heroes, and Programs" which recognize and celebrate the contributions in art, literature, politics and education of the African American community throughout the year in the DC Metropolitan area.
