[WardFive] Re: C100 nails machinations around Comp Plan update, implications for McMillan

Good Morning,

Two issues .... regarding

1. The DC Zoning plan (our "comprehensive" plan) needs to address local food spaces ... vertical farming (doesn't have to include fish), large year long recreational spaces, indoor theater spaces, a water park with large indoor pool, and event space for our youth, adults and seniors to be able to live a "green" life --- all year round!

In the 901 Monroe hearing, Office of Planning was sent back 4 times to get their "supporting documentation" correct....so that it will justify what was being done. If even Office of Planning was having a difficult time supporting that development and tried so hard to do so, imagine who is the "fox" guarding our City Planning Hen House!!

2. For years, developers have guided the plan for the city and even helped write the law for property tax sale...which helped them get control of people's property. If a person doesn't pay their property tax for year 2014, that delinquent tax would go up for tax sale in 2015. Once it is bought at tax sale, the owner of the property has to catch up on not only the 2014 tax owed which was bought but also any subsequent taxes owed (for 2015 and first part of 2016). So, if you don't have the money for one year, it is highly unlikely that you would have the money for subsequent years to catch up all at once...hence that is how many of our seniors and property owners lost their property to tax sale.

So --- the question is --- why would anyone have to pay a collective of years if only one year has been sold?  Well, the developers ("advisers" and campaign financiers) who want the property will add that piece in so that it becomes more difficult for the homeowner to pay the actual tax which was sold. So, this "guidance" by developers  is not new.... Just Sad. Even when you share the issue or you oppose it at hearings, your input is often not included into adjusting our overall development growth to be an inclusive win for everyone.

This "open" invite for input from the residents is often a facade of inclusiveness.. unless you have the funds or tenacity to fight in court, you might as well not have a voice. This is all about Colonization, Land Acquisition and Over development with no real focus on focus on Localized Food or Localized Recreation pass the puny "rec" center approach. I am not against development but I would like to see a more balanced approach where the residents of our city have input which is included....not just an appearance of being considered.

Just like our New Presidential Administration -- our Administration seems to love putting people in position who will get their agenda done ... so we set the example or we continue the example and that's why we are getting the National Agenda structure we are getting!!

Black History Month ---- imagine what our forefathers would say. It is like lifting weights -- we tend to work on big muscle groups (big items) and often forget about the small muscle fibers  which also need to be developed -- and when we feel pain/hurt, it slows our progress ... and this is why we lose in the long run -- we allow ourselves and our community to be eroded a little by little --- we the people get sold out for 40 pieces of silver by our decision makers!!

So, we end up with our Development Foxes building our Hen House (Our City)!!
