[WardFive] Brookland Green Has Been Saved!

Good Evening,

A quick note to inform everyone that the "Brookland Green" will be retained. Councilman Kenyan McDuffie and the Office of Planning have been able to work with the necessary city officials to SWAP the land at Brookland Station, "Brookland Green", to an alternate site. The following is an excerpt from the letter sent to WMATA from Councilman Kenyan McDuffie on behalf of the citizens dated December 17, 2013:

..I request that WMATA amend its solicitation to generate proposals that preserve the Brookland
Green. Revising the solicitation now, rather than waiting for an initial round of proposals to be
submitted, would set this project on the right path from the beginning. Indeed, I believe it would
be counterproductive to encourage and allow developers to submit proposals that include the
development of the Brookland Green. Instead, an amended solicitation should be circulated and
proposals should only be deemed responsive if they preserve the Brookland Green...

The RFP process for the WMATA Brookland/CUA Development will continue excluding the Brookland Green area.

Thank you.
