I remember sitting with Mr. Guyot in his living room on many occasions just listening to the history of the Civic Rights movement in the early years and the great work they all did. We certain stand on their Shoulders. He was brilliant. He was a walking political dictionary. He introduce me Mayor Barry in the 90's. Both were great leaders and Mr. Guyot love to teach as many of you saw on the history channel. I feel so grateful to have learned a great deal from both strong Black men/leaders.
Sent from my iPhone--How ironic that the transition of Marion Barry occurred on the same day 2 years later as Lawrence Guyot, one of the District's great Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners, but also a member of SNCC the same time as Mayor Barry. They were great, lifetime friends,Lawrence was the SNCC-CORE project in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and later became director of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party.Albrette "Gigi" Ransom
