Make a plan for EdFEST
Dear My School DC Partner,

EdFEST—the District's citywide public school fair—is only 6 days away. It's a great time to help your families begin making a game plan for the day.

Getting to EdFEST

EdFEST takes place on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the DC Armory. There are several ways families can travel to EdFEST:
  • Metrorail: Orange / Blue / Silver Lines to Stadium-Armory
  • Metrobus: 96, 97, B2, D6, E32
  • DC School Reform Now is offering a free shuttle to EdFEST from Ketcham ES (1919 15th Street SE) and Stanton ES (2701 Naylor Road SE). Contact (202) 315-2424 to reserve a spot.
  • Free parking onsite in Lot #3
Navigating EdFEST

Tip: Make a list with your families of the schools they want to speak with. The Festival will showcase more than 180 public schools (both DCPS and charter) serving grades PK3-12. School exhibitors will be grouped into two sections: Grades PK3-8 and Grades 9-12. Within each section exhibitors are arranged in alphabetical order.

Families will receive an event map and program to navigate your way around the Armory and plenty of staff and volunteers will be on hand to help answer questions and guide them throughout the day. Interpretation services will also be available in Spanish, Amharic, French, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and in sign language.

Come prepared

Tip: Help your families think about what they want to ask schools. Ask them to write their questions down. This is an excellent opportunity to ask schools about their programs and services. Schools are prepared to answer questions about their curriculum, teaching philosophy, learning environment, extracurricular activities, before and after care, and much more. The Office of the State Superintendent for Education (OSSE) will be at the event and can provide information on enrollment requirements. The Department of Health will also be onsite to provide immunization records and other free medical services.

Remember: Admission and parking are free.

We look forward to seeing you and your families at EdFEST!

Sincerely,
The My School DC Team
