[WardFive] Attending Presidential Swearing-in and Events

If you missed Monday’s MLK Peace-Walk/Parade, I put together a video of the parade, please visit http://dcireporter.com/mlk-peace-walk-and-parade-2017/ to watch it.  Thank you to parade organizer co-Chairs Denise Rolark-Barnes and Keith Silver for helping put together one of the best organized MLK Parades in recent memory.

We are now ready for a new administration.  I will attend the swearing-in of the 45th President of our nation accompanied by DREAMER Gerson Quinteros.  Gerson, now 22, came to the US as a child, and is now a student at UDC.  I had the opportunity to meet Gerson recently and learned about his aspirations to finish college and contribute to our country.  I wanted to give him the opportunity to experience the historical swearing-in of our President upfront.  I know he, like I, will enjoy the experience.

As DC welcomed me, when I arrived in 1980, now that I have become part of the city, I too extend a welcome to our new residents at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  As I stated in my own swearing-in on January 2nd, I am looking forward and ahead to the challenges and opportunities with the new administration.  DC is a welcoming city, and we will be clear about that message, not only by defending the values we believe in, but also by extending a sincere welcome to the incoming President and the new Administration.

Please see below for events coming up.  I hope to see some of you at some of these events.  To keep up with all the information during the inauguration (road closures, Metro, etc.), please visit:  https://inauguration.dc.gov/

Sincerely,

Jackson’s skillful narration) to create “a spiritual documentary. Q/A to follow with Director afterwards.
