cheat_training_group Book - Amazon Woman

Thanks Mark, for the great movie tip we will watch it tonight.

Paddling tip - the attainment from carderock to anglers is very do-able right now if you stay in the middle channel (avoid offut , too scrappy to attain). We continued up to Wet Bottom, and I was exhausted. Total time=3 hrs round trip.

And, in the spirit of awesome stuff to do at home, I just finished Darcy Gaetcher's new book, "Amazon Woman" her book about paddling the Amazon river source-to-sea. Darcy and Don own Small World Adventures in Ecuador, and some of us have paddled with them. This book is amazing!!! Buy it, love it, laugh, be amazed, (and then write a glowing review on amazon). Enjoy!

For anyone with a strong hankering to get out and paddle something big during lock-in, I watched a great documentary tonight. Available on Amazon Prime, "The Weight of Water" (2018 — not to be confused with the 2002 drama of the same name) is  the story of a blind man taking on an absurdly improbable challenge: kayaking the Grand Canyon. Erik Weihenmayer balances his fear of drowning with his fear of remaining paralyzed in a prison of darkness. He desires the elusive state of being that so many of us seek, to be engaged in the present.

"It's so hard to be fully in the moment because there's so much fear, there's so much anxiety, it's like a person looking through a window at an experience rather than being in the experience." – Erik Weihenmayer

Nice cinematography. Good story arc. No glossing over the hard parts or the fear. It tells it like it is.
It was supposed to be shown this week as part of the DC Environmental Film Festival.

And it's paddling the Grand freakin' Canyon!

Enjoy,
Mark
