[WardFive] Re: [ward5] "Bloomingdale, here is why I hate you" essay posted to S St NW tree

Good Afternoon,

Maybe it is just a way that some feel as they observe the results of the years of existing inequities!!

Last year, I was at the light at Georgia and Irving when I saw a Black woman (walking alongside a Black Man) walk up to a Spanish woman at a bus stop and Slap her really hard in the face.  The Slap was followed by "that's for taking our jobs" - "go back to where you came from".  Of course I jumped out and made sure that nothing else occurred and as I got into the "discussion" a lot else was said!  So you know, this anger is brewing in many ways in many people at various socio-economic levels!!

So, here is what I can see occurring. Some folks are going to continue to be angry at the inequities and having to be "second" class or worse and eventually will just attack folks more than just for robbery!  I keep trying to clue folks in so that maybe we could start looking at things as a community and coming together on a list of true priorities vs. this focus on "Transportation"/Street Car ambiance idea and whatever else our Campaign Coffers CM's are focused on!

I know that some may not want to hear it, but creating an equal playing field by allowing for opportunity and education is the key to a less stressed society.  It doesn't matter how green this earth is if we (our child, husband, brother, sister, friend, etc.) aren't here or have been maimed and cannot fully enjoy life.

Please pay attention to the signs - the words are clear - "this is why I hate you".  It is possible that it is a "prank" or a rouse to encourage the police to move folks off the "corner" or it could be just simmering anger that will blow one day and on someone instead of the "tree Bark" as someone blogged about on the Bloomingdale blog.

Hope to have the entire community support on not destroying our School Property and putting a Street Car Barn at our School and across from our Historic Golf Course!!
