Subject: DCPS Parent Handbook Available Now!

Dear Parent Leaders—

The DC Public Schools (DCPS) Office of Family and Public Engagement (OFPE) is pleased to share a new resource tool for parents with the district's education stakeholders: The DCPS Parent Handbook.  Parents, families, and community members can now access this resource online.  The DCPS Parent Handbook is available in six languages: English, Spanish, French, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Amharic.  A limited quantity of hard copies will be printed and made available at the beginning of June to schools in DCPS.

The DCPS Parent Handbook has been created to provide families with comprehensive, but not exhaustive, information about DCPS policies, practice, and protocols.  The purpose of the document is to 1) Highlight the resources, services, and supports parents need to understand and access to support their child's academic success and 2) Allow parents, families, and community stakeholders who are interested in navigating the central office, the ability to do this with ease.

Please note, the DCPS Parent Handbook will not contain all DCPS policies and practices, and will be subject to change.

In the meantime, please make sure families are aware that these documents are available to them online and share this message with any interested parties. Contact your local school, or the Office of Family and Public Engagement at ofpe.info@dc.gov, or 202.719.6613 for more information.

Thanks!
