Greetings!

The Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO starts recruiting for its Department of Labor- Green Jobs Innovation Fund-funded BUILDING FUTURES fall 2013 class in September. We will accept applications for the upcoming class from September 1-23 only. Classes are scheduled to start at the beginning of October. Attached is a flyer for distribution.

Building Futures is a 6-week workforce development training program delivered Monday - Friday from 8am - 1pm, which offers a combination of classroom and hands-on activities with an orientation to the construction industry, as well as rights and responsibilities at work. Certifications include OSHA 10, Traffic Control and Flagger Safety, CPR, First Aid and AED, as well as LEED 101 to raise awareness about green practices in the industry. There is no fee for the class, which is offered near the Deanwood Metro and we offer a $10/day travel stipend.

**The goal of this program is to prepare men and women with an interest in construction to obtain employment and/or be able to join an apprenticeship program soon after graduation**

Candidates MUST:

* be at least 21 years old
* have a valid driver's license or learner's permit,
* be drug-free,
* have a high school diploma or GED, and
* be serious about a career in construction.

Our recruitment and selection process lasts three weeks and is competitive. Applicants are qualified by phone (see above eligibility requirements) and scheduled for a placement test. Those that pass the test are invited for a one-on-one interview. The top 20 candidates from the interview round will be selected at the end of September to join the co-ed class.

Thanks for your interest in this program and call us should you have any questions.
