To: Mandel, Jon (Council);

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In 2012 Trusted Solutions Group was part of a team that installed solar on 87 low income houses in Wards 7 and 8. This year a much smaller program is up and running for residents of Ward 5. We will be hosting a community meeting next Wednesday, August 14th from 7:00pm to 8:30 pm at the Woodridge Library to answer any and all questions and to accept applications for these free installations.

What this means is that we will install systems on approximately 8 homes in Ward 5. There will be "0" cost to the individual homeowner. Our costs and fees are being covered by the District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) through grants provided by the District Department of the Environment.

What we ask of each of you is to forward the attached brochure to residents whom you think will qualify for this program. Our brochure indicates the criteria which needs to be met. We also have included a list of documents that each individual will need to bring to this meeting. These are requirements established by the DCSEU and we need to comply with their request. It is our hope to prequalify at least 8 homeowners at this meeting and arrange for site inspections at that time. After our site inspection and our approval the roof is structurally sound we will enter into a contract (which has been approved by DCSEU) with the individual homeowner. If we could get 30 or so potential candidates at this meeting that would be wonderful.

Because we have to have all 8 installations installed and operating by September 20, 2013 we have to move very fast, which is the reason for the short notice of this meeting.

One clarification we would like to make is that this program is for single family houses and for row houses (attached dwellings). Condominiums cannot be included at this time.

I know we have all been told that if something appears to be too good to be true it probably is but in this case that doesn't apply.

We cannot thank Councilman McDuffie and his staff enough for their help in pulling this together and in such a short timeframe.

Please contact me directly with any questions or concerns that you may have.
