[WardFive] Tomorrow: Community Conversation on DCPS PreK Programs/PreK Matter-of-Right Pilot

Trying to navigate DC's education landscape can be challenging -- especially when you are attempting to enter your child into the system for the first time.

Are you interested in having your child start school at age 3 or 4 but you don't completely understand the public early childhood (PreK3 or PreK4) education offerings?
Did you know: in school year 2015-16 DCPS is implementing a matter-of-right PreK3/PreK4 pilot program for families that live within the boundaries for Burroughs and Brookland @ Bunker Hill Education Campuses?

If the questions above sound familiar, interesting, or apply to you and your family, please join us (the Ward Five Council on Education in partnership with DCPS) for a special community conversation focused on helping you navigate and better understand early childhood education programs offered by DC Public Schools (DCPS) and to discuss the PreK matter-of-right pilot program.

When: Tomorrow, Saturday, February 14, 2015
Time: 10-11:30am
Where: Burroughs Education Campus (1820 Monroe St. NE)
**Use Newton St. NE entrance on the backside of the school - the program will be in the cafeteria**
(RSVPs are not required but are encouraged)

Two representatives from DCPS will join us to discuss PreK3/PreK4 programs/curriculum offered in Ward 5 and to share the specifics of the PreK matter-of-right pilot program. Many of the Ward 5 principals, and relevant staff, from the elementary school and education campuses with PreK programs will also join us for this conversation to address specific questions or concerns you might have about their school. In addition to the DCPS presence, My School DC (the common school lottery) will also join us to talk about their role in this process and address any other question you might have that pertain to the lottery process.

Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to ask the questions you've been waiting to ask!

We hope to see you there! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at ward5coe@gmail.com.
