Forwarding a response from the Brookland list regarding VO's behavior yesterday at the Council's Legislative session for the vote on the Acting Chair & Chair Pro Tem. Not surprised by the lack of posts/responses by VO’s hardcore supporters which I was not going to hold my breath for. They can spend months dressing down HTJ, posting who should be his replacement months before it was called for, working to control/direct the process, then the dressing down those who expressed their sadness, disappointment with HTJ, not condemning him, yet when VO exposes himself virally for the world to see, these same folks go sticking their heads in the sand hoping it would just go away.  Hmm!  A sad, but truly revealing event.

There should be no excuses for the childish, self-centered, egotistical behavior displayed by VO, VO revealed his true self and motives. Wake up everybody, VO showed he has no true/real concern for the residents (as he has shown time & time again). The whole city now knows the truth.

And to proclaim that "he is the best" more than once, taking to mean he is the best on the Council is one of the best jokes out there, especially since he gave himself such high, imperial grades for being an accountant & lawyer.  So what?  Taking pleasure in "busting the bubble", I don't know what energy drink, personal enhancement program VO may be on, or the type of mirror he looks into each day, but he is far from the best CM or At-Large CM the Council present or ever!

In fact, as I think back and from prior review of proposed bills, yes, the DC Emancipation celebration bill was a wonderful thought, however, because you got the bill passed doesn't give you the authority to control the day’s events.  How insulting this probably was for the born native Washingtonians in our city, on the Council, the Mayor to have someone not born here leading all of the events.

VO should know that at least from the late 90s, from a short list, he couldn’t touch Charlene Drew Jarvis; Linda Cropp, David Clark, John Ray, Bill Lightfoot, Willy Hardy, John Wilson, and Carol Schwartz.  When there are meetings, events where present & former CMs are in attendance, hasn’t he noticed the level of applauses they receive as oppose to the ones he receives.  There’s a very good reason for that.  These individuals were being recognized for being public servants who understood and applied political principles, not for what they could do for the highlight reels for themselves.

The most ridiculous thing I heard VO say was about Democrats stood stand together so both positions should be filled by Democrats.  What, where is this in the Council’s Rules of Organization, Robert’s Rule of Order.  More ridiculous statement, that he was the DC Democratic National Committeeman and would be in a better position at the Convention if he was Chairman Pro Tem?  What?  Where is this in writing?  Does this mean as a Committeeman he has no standing with the additional title that other State Committeemen have? How insulting to everyone intelligence.

Other exposure, the waving of the Examiner article that I feel was hastily put together for this purpose.  Yet VO forgot that there is an investigation about the J. Thompson checks he received.  If I recall correctly it seems that there were 19 money orders in the amount of $1,000.00 ($19,000.00), and 14 money orders in the amount of $500.00 ($7,000.00), totaling $26,000.00, all MOs in sequential numbers, though looking like from different donors and seemingly identical signatures given to VO’s 2011 Special Election campaign.

After and even before yesterday’s performance, are we to truly believe that these obvious Thirty-Three (33) sequential irregularities seems to have gotten by Mr. Super Accountant and Attorney, The Best on the Council during the filing of his campaign reports which you know he personally reviewed?  Yet, he attacks CM Brown for a campaign finance conviction in 1997.  Seem to me with such extraordinary skills & credentials, he should have immediately psychically zoned in on these donations.  The question is why didn’t he?  Why weren’t the funds returned back then, rather than 11 months after the fact when he wants it to be confirmed prior to returning the money?  If the donors are questionable, who would you be returning the money to? What has been VO’s has voting record on the related healthcare matters?

As with his terms as CM, and now, VO always puts together an outstanding staff.  Yet, as was before and now, he stymies their efforts by having total control over everyone and everything before anything can be done.  W5 residents know what it was like tiring to get things done in the community?

When VO returned to the Council, he went crying to the residents for support for him having a Committee, which he was finally given, Small & Local Business Development.  Has anyone in W5 received any information from him on opportunities for W5 for the many projects?  Has he fought for the 51% resident hires? Has VO provided a status on business development to our community and W5 businesses he has helped?

You may remember the post I made on the closing of the W5 office and my disgust at VO holding an election process meeting disguised as a Ward 5 meeting on the resignation of HTJ prior to Chairman Brown holding the Council’s W5 meeting?

Well, I did talk directly with Chairman Brown on the matter.  Good conversation but respectfully agreed to disagree with his decision.  I never heard from CM Orange.  Though I have cross paths with him on many occasions, I didn’t raise it, for character would have dictated his concerns about what I wrote, to express why he chose to do so, whether or not I agreed.

BTW, CM Mendelson and I also had a personal talk about the Betty Noel appointment and his position.  Again, agreed to disagree, respected his position, life moved on.

It been about 3 weeks now since CM Orange said he wanted to talk with me, about what I didn’t know at the time.  Was told to contact Ms. Lloyd.  A week after I was in his office.  Ms. Lloyd said she would put it down, but VO schedules his own appointments.

Still haven’t heard from him, and after this, probably won’t. Don't care.

What a surprise that Councilmember Orange's colleagues were unconvinced by his egomaniacal table-pounding I-am-the-best temper tantrum, or by his teaming up with Councilmember Barry for lectures on ethics.

OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED RESOLUTION

Chairman Pro Tempore Mary Cheh has filed a resolution to elect the Acting-Chairman and the Acting-Chairman Pro tempore of the Council of the District of Columbia. She has proposed Councilmember Phil Mendelson as Acting-Chairman and Councilmember Michael Brown as Acting-Chairman Pro Tempore. I understand that Councilmember Mendelson supports this resolution.

I cannot in good conscience support this resolution. In my view, this resolution is not in the best interest of neither the Council of the District of Columbia nor the citizens we represent.

The reputation of the Council of the District of Columbia has been severely damaged. In light of Colbert King's June 9, 2012, article entitled "We're to blame for the D.C. Council mess", I cannot go forward with this resolution.

At the very least, the proposed resolution must be bifurcated and a roll call vote taken on the respective acting positions.

Is the Council ready to clean up this mess?
