Re: cheat_training_group The Attainers Blog

Dear Cheaters,

I hope you are all embracing the joys of early Spring paddling, including the arctic cold, the river icebergs, frozen fingers and helmet-icicles. I know too well that the cold is no match for the warmth of this group and I wish I could be there to share the fun and camaraderie with all of you.

I wish all of you a wonderful Cheat season! I will be thinking of you while waiting for the Alaska rivers to thaw... and after that. :)

Cheers!

Sandrine

Long ago and not so far away, a grizzled bespectacled sorcerer introduced some us to the dark art of attaining. Little did we know that we would be ensnared, never again to look at moving water without wondering "Could we attain that?" Over the years, generations of attainers have chronicled their addiction, recording their success, failures and dreams of mighty accomplishments --- like attaining Maryland Chute at 5 feet in a freaking Remix like Andrew did one year. I've never forgiven him for that humiliation. ;-) But I digress.

The Attainers Blog (http://attaining.blogspot.com/) is a handy reference for for those who love the torture of attaining. Tagged by various levels and types of boats, you can get information on the many options up and down our home river. For example, given the levels for today, I can anticipate the rare pleasure of attaining up the Back Channel and out to the main river, may doing some loops down through the Chutes and back up again. It also reminds me to go have a look at Center Chute, as there should be some sweet long boat surfing tonight. In fact, there is a good bit of information on the surf spots, offering up some incentives for success attains.

Please come check it out. If you'd like to author your own entries, just let me know. And while you're there, don't forget to feed the fish --- they're always hungry. ;-)

Enjoy!
JOHN
