[WardFive] Re: [ward5] Pepco in the Community Ready to Respond

That's right Anita!  Truly appreciate Pepco's effort.  Though they have been recognized for their utility work, having crew ready on standby in the community shows they are beginning to understand how important it is to be in short distance to respond in the community in these storm related emergencies.  Assessment of destruction is tranferred to their Emergency
Control Center much sooner, which allows for much sooner decision-making and when necessary coodinating govt and other services responses.

In my opinion, now what needs to be worked out between Pepco and DC Govt is after repairs are made, how cleanup of debris is made in a timely manner, notification to cable & lineline phone services to put their lines back up and for these companies to have HSEMA and/or CMs post estimated restoration time notification to their customers in affected areas.

I have residents in my community who still don't have Internet, Cable or landline phone service from RCN.  Their lines are down and its 3 weeks after the 6/29/12 derecho.  This brings me to where is the DC Office of Cable Television in this emergency matter?

Surely this decision is very costly, however, a good decision if it sppeds up dispatchment of repair crews. Thanks for the information and I agree that Pepco is trying hard to meet the demand. Its never too late to make a positive difference.

In response to concerns about Pepco's community emergency response plan, there seems to be a new addition to Pepco's Reliability Enhancement and Emergency Restoration Improvement Plans.  I crossed paths with a 2 man crew (truck 902) stationed in the field.  Was told since there is a high possibility of another storm and possible flooding, Pepco crews will be stationed throughout DC to respond when/where needed this evening.  These crews will be on 24 hr shifts until told otherwise.
