Cheat Trainers,

Just wanted to let you know that I have a women's L Kokatat dry suit for sale – gently used, excellent condition except for a couple of tiny tears in the neck gasket:  $500.  For information, email me off list at irene@ireneowsley.com.  My DC representative (Sandrine!) can show it if you are interested.

Thanks,

Irene

Hi Cheat Trainers!

For those of you who are not in Cheat Training this year- we will be using this email list for Cheat Training logistics for the next few months. You are welcome to remain on the list. Settings can be adjusted at the bottom of this and every email.

Welcome to Cheat Training 2018- the most wonderful time of the year! We will be emailing with information about workouts, technique, meeting spots, etc. on this list. The Cheat Elite group may receive emails with specifics from your instructors.

The staff met last week and we are all so excited to paddle with you. The stoke is high. Here is the list of the amazing staff/ fearless leaders for this year along with meeting times and locations.

Cheat Training (Wednesdays and Saturdays) Tom McEwan, Bobby Miller, Ashley Nee, Sandrine Deglin, Charlie Miller. Assisted by Brian DeCicco, Kelly Holland, Jim Wilson, Bob Pollock

Wednesday nights (March 7 - April 25) are attainments from Angler's Inn. You can arrive anytime between 5-6 pm. Our first meeting, March 7th, is before Daylight Savings begins. For this day only, we are meeting 1 hour earlier. Please arrive between 4 - 5 pm.  Check in in the lower lot with Steve-O. We may have a specific workout for you or things to focus on depending on the level. We also want you to paddle with a partner. This is especially important until you get up to one of the Chutes where an instructor will be located.  Staff will be at different locations along the Gorge to give you tips and help with rescues. Please ask questions, let them know who you are and how you are feeling. We will all turn around and race back to Anglers at roughly 7:45 (6:00 the first week). It is important for the group that everyone stays out until turn around time. If you get stuck and can't make a move consider carrying or head back down to the Chutes and try different moves. These workouts are great for strength training and boat control.

4 Saturdays in March (3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31) are downrivers on the Potomac. We meet at the Sycamore Parking area on Clara Barton Parkway at 9 am. (38°57'28.9"N 77°07'52.8"W) We will shuttle you up to Great Falls, MD and paddle from Sandy down to Sycamore. We will be done around 12:30 pm. This workout focuses on endurance, race technique, and pain tolerance ;)

4 Saturdays in April (4/7, 4/14, 4/21, 4/28) are trips to the Cheat Canyon. More info about logistics for trips will follow but plan for all day trips out to West Virginia.

Everything is subject to change depending on river level. We will email out any changes so be sure to follow this email chain.

Steve-O's Cheat Elite (Tuesdays and Saturdays) Steve-O McKone, Eric Brooks, Andrew O'Neil

Pablo's Cheat Elite (Thursdays and Saturdays) Pablo McCandless, Patrick Murray, Andrew O'Neil

Weeknights are 6-8 pm at Anglers. For the first week please meet at 5 pm in the lower lot of Anglers. Saturdays are 9 am - 12 pm meeting at Sycamore Island parking on MacArthur Blvd or Lock 5. Steve-O will email you about this option. If you need to switch a weeknight you may. Please try to let us know in advance.

Everyone- You will need to have a long boat and cold weather paddling gear. The minimum requirement is a drytop, neoprene pants, river shoes, and gloves or pogies. Resources for this stuff: Paddle Prattle, Facebook page Potomac River Gear Exchange, this listserve, NRS

Thanks for signing up for Cheat. Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback along the way. See you next week at Anglers!
