Hi Cheat Trainers,

Congrats on completing the first (and hopefully coldest) week of Cheat Training. All of the instructors remarked on how well everyone paddled and how much hard work was put in on Saturday. It was a slog but we made it! Every week that stretch will get easier as you feel your strength and endurance building. Keep showing up with a positive attitude!

For this week, we are meeting at Anglers an hour later. Cheat can arrive anytime 5-6 pm, Cheat Elite meets at 6 pm (in the parking lot but ready to go).

Cheat Elite, for this Saturday we have a possible location change. See the note below from Bobby. IF the Shenandoah is the right level, we will do our workout there. We will email a confirmation on Friday.

This Wednesday, Ashley Nee will meet you at the beach at Anglers for a warm up and stroke drills before heading upstream. Steve-O will be absent but we do have Sofi Reinoso back in town! If you don't know her be sure to introduce yourself.

A few quick additional notes: If you have friends that you want to get into kayaking, we are having a sale on Beginner Whitewater Classes, Sea Kayaking and Raft Trips. Promo code is SPRING50 -- GOOD UNTIL THE TEMP HITS 70 IN POTOMAC!

Sundays in April, we have Creeking Clinics! Camp near the Cheat and head to a great class III+ - VI run on Sunday. Registration is up: https://calleva.org/liquid-adventures-kayak/advanced/trips/wv-creekin/

Cheat Elite:
Are you ready to take your long boat skills to an Elite level? Come out on Saturday for the Great Shenandoah Challenge! We will attain over 2 miles up the Shenandoah River, working on maneuvering, planning your route, using your edges, stroke timing, and getting up to speed in a short distance. We will start out negotiating the labyrinth of ledges that is the upper Staircase. We will head upstream through small rapids, working on endurance as we move closer to Bull Falls. At Bull Falls, we will turn off and head into the secret Attainment Channel! This wonderland of elevator moves brings you out at the flat water above all the rapids. From here we will do sprint race drills through the rapids, finishing with a race of the entire Shenandoah Staircase, a rapid that extends for a mile into the historic town of Harpers Ferry. A short attainment will bring you to the shore by the ruins of an old mill and a short walk will bring you back to your car. The entire workout will take about 2.5 hours. Meet at the parking lot next to the Rt. 340 bridge over the Shenandoah River at 9:00 for a workout that will leave you tired, satisfied, and more confident in your skills!

Bobby "Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don't stop when you're tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired."

See you this week!
