ANNOUNCES A PUBLIC HEARING ON
B19-0990, the “Retail Incentive Amendment Act of 2012”

On Thursday, November 8, Councilmember Michael Brown, Chairperson of the Committee on Economic Development and Housing, and Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, Chairperson of the Committee on Jobs and Workforce Development, announce a public hearing on B19-0990, the “Retail Incentive Amendment Act of 2012”.
The Retail Incentive Amendment Act of 2012 designates Ward 5’s two Great Streets, North Capitol Street and Rhode Island Avenue NE, as Retail Priority Areas. The legislation focuses on the portions of North Capitol Street (bounded by New York Avenue to the south and Rhode Island Avenue to the north) and Rhode Island Avenue NE (bounded by 4th Street, NE to the west and to Eastern Avenue, NE to the east).
The Committee invites the public to testify. Testimony may be limited to 3 minutes for individuals and 5 minutes for those representing organizations or groups. Those who wish to testify, please contact Carol Sadler at (202) 724-8198 or csadler@dccouncil.us, and provide your name, organizational affiliation and title of your organization by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6. Witnesses should bring 20 copies of their written testimony to the hearing. Additional written statements are encouraged and will be made part of the official record. The official record will close ten days following the conclusion of the hearing.
