Re: [WardFive] Re: Foreign language debate Re: [ward5] Tap Dancing

Mrs. KPW -- while that may be good to do, with the rate of dropouts and kids who are deemed more likely to need a "trade" -- which is alot of who I am refferring to (not needing foreign language) -- I am sure some up to par English, Math and Computer skills are more important.  Most important -- they need to double down on English and Math to allow for processing to occur.

Also, I have to agree with Eric J. on this point.  They do need to introduce this as soon as possible.  All kids have the ability to learn -- we just need to get the information in front of them and make the best use of 7:30 to 6pm.  We need to have designated curricullums for anyone who has a daycare lic.

Actually, we need to start it from a few months old.

Actually we need to stop waiting so long and introduce the foreign languages earlier in the Educational Process. We need to actually start teaching it in Elementary school but we also need to have longer school days as well which includes breaks for the students and staff.

Do you still need foreign language to go to college or for high school?

We probably need to do some research on what the experts say on foreign language.  Maybe it can be on a pass/fail basis.

Subject: [ward5] Tap Dancing

Hello Everyone,

So last night when I wasn't being such a "Loser", I took my daughter to a Tap Dancing Program.  From 7:30pm to 9:30pm -- at 4 years old, she was fully focused on all the kids between 8 - 20 doing their 2 minute skits.  I wonder if we had some opportunities like this in schools if we would have less truancy?  I know that folks want this "foreign language" motif because they think that it is so important -- and it is great option for kids who are doing well in school.

For kids who have fell behind or lack proficiency in English and Math, it is important to know that there is no foreign language on the SAT Exam and the likelyhood of most/probably all failing kids needing to use a Foreign Language as part of a Job is probably 0-1 per 1000.  It is time to be realistic.  I suggest we get them caught up and then introduce a foreign language.  Instead of foreign language, let's introduce programs that will entice our kids to attend school -- make school fun.
